Mission
SERA open press — Scholarly Exchange for Research Advancement — is an independent, open-access academic publisher committed to making scholarly publishing faster, fairer, and more transparent. We publish peer-reviewed journals across the sciences, social sciences, and humanities, with a focus on rigorous editorial standards, ethical publishing practices, and efficient review timelines.
We believe that the dissemination of knowledge should not be hindered by prohibitive costs, opaque processes, or unnecessarily long publication cycles. Every decision we make — from our editorial workflows to our fee structure — is guided by this principle.
Our Approach
SERA open press combines established academic publishing standards with modern editorial technology. Our journals follow a double-blind peer review process supported by AI-assisted editorial tools that handle administrative tasks — such as plagiarism screening, formatting checks, and reviewer matching — while all scientific evaluation and editorial decisions remain firmly in the hands of qualified human editors and reviewers.
This approach allows us to maintain the scholarly rigor that researchers expect while significantly reducing the administrative delays that slow down traditional publishing workflows.
Governance and Editorial Independence
SERA open press operates with a clear separation between publisher administration and editorial decision-making. Editors-in-chief are appointed based on their scholarly expertise, publication record, and standing within their respective fields. They hold full authority over the intellectual content of their journals.
Publisher Responsibilities
- Platform infrastructure and technical operations
- Financial administration and fee policies
- Publisher-level policy development (in consultation with editors)
- Marketing, indexing applications, and external partnerships
Editorial Responsibilities
- All decisions on manuscript acceptance and rejection
- Appointment of associate editors and editorial board members
- Definition of journal scope and editorial direction
- Selection and management of peer reviewers
Editors-in-chief serve renewable terms. Appointments and removals are conducted transparently and documented, with editorial independence as the guiding principle. The publisher will not interfere in editorial decisions, and editors are free to reject any manuscript regardless of external considerations.
Standards and Affiliations
