Information For Librarians

We encourage research librarians to list SERA open press journals among their library's electronic journal holdings and to recommend them to faculty and researchers.

Why Include SERA open press Journals

  • Fully open access — all content is freely available with no subscription fees, embargoes, or access barriers.
  • Permanent availability — all articles are preserved through the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) and registered with Crossref DOIs.
  • Standards-aligned — our policies follow the guidelines of COPE, DOAJ, the Budapest Open Access Initiative, and ICMJE.
  • CC BY 4.0 licensing — clear, permissive licensing supports institutional repository deposits and compliance with funder mandates (including Plan S and Horizon Europe).

Open Source Publishing Infrastructure

SERA open press is built on Open Journal Systems (OJS), the most widely used open-source platform for academic journal management, developed by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP). OJS is well-suited for libraries that wish to host and support scholarly journals edited by their faculty members. Learn more at https://pkp.sfu.ca/software/ojs/.
